There are two walks on Bank Holiday Monday, 27th May … In the morning “Hidden Histories of Boscombe Chine” starts at 11am from the Chine Hotel in Boscombe Spar Road. In the evening “The Darker Side of the East Cliff” sets off at 7pm from Hotel Miramar on East Overcliff Drive.

Join Hattie Miles on this intriguing circular walk from Hotel Miramar on Bournemouth’s East Cliff. You will hear the extraordinary story of a murder that took place in 1935 not far from the hotel, as well as an historic shipwreck and the story of an RAF war hero. Be prepared for a ghost story and some intrigue too …

Be prepared: this is a mainly flat walk on pavements but I recommend wearing comfortable shoes and dressing appropriately for the weather – walkers can park in the carpark at the rear of the hotel, just let reception know you are there … there are also bus stops nearby. You can enjoy refreshments at Hotel Miramar before or after the walk. The walk lasts approximately 90 minutes.

You can enjoy refreshments at Hotel Miramar before or after the walk. The walk lasts approximately 90 minutes.

This walk is usually run as an evening walk during the Summer but various people have asked if I can do a daytime version … so here goes!

Hidden Secrets of Bournemouth

Join Hattie Miles on this enjoyable circular guided walk. You will find out about the area’s history, famous residents and visitors, and discover some of the town’s hidden secrets.

Meet at Hotel Miramar, E Overcliff Dr, BH1 3AL … at reception or on the terrace. 

Tuesday morning 26th March starting at 11am.

Price: £6.00 (over sixties and students £5.00) … no need to book, just turn up.  This guided walk lasts approximately one-and-three-quarter hours …

Be prepared: this walk will include a sloping path down to Bournemouth promenade  and some steps with a good rail. I recommend wearing comfortable shoes and dressing appropriately for the weather and you may want to bring some water to drink on the way. Walkers can park in the carpark at the rear of the hotel, just let reception know you are there … there are also bus stops nearby. The walk lasts approximately 1 hour 45 minutes.

Tuesday 26th March starting at 11am “Hidden Secrets of Bournemouth” … this popular circular walk tells you all sorts of things about our town. Quirky facts, famous residents and more. The walk lasts approximately one-and-three-quarter hours and costs £6 (over sixties and students £5). Meet at Hotel Miramar, E Overcliff Dr, BH1 3AL at reception or on the terrace ready for an 11am start. 

Tuesday 2nd April starting at 11am “The Darker Side of the East Cliff” … This circular walk is usually a Summer evening walk but various people have asked if I can do a daytime version – so here goes.  It tells stories with a dark theme. They are all connected to the East Cliff and include the dramatic tale of an historic murder, a story about a Hollywood heart-throb and the sinking of a World War One ship. Price for this walk: £5.00 …  no need to book, just turn up.  The guided walk lasts approximately 90 minutes and is on relatively level ground.

For both walks meet at Hotel Miramar, E Overcliff Dr, BH1 3AL at reception or on the terrace ready for an 11am start.

Christmas themed walk from Hotel Miramar

Get festive on this entertaining Christmas themed guided walk with Hattie Miles. You’ll discover seasonal stories about people connected to the town and hear some fun Christmas readings with local links. There’ll be a sprinkling of history and a dusting of celebrity but no austerity, Brexit or Trump!!

After the walk you can enjoy a light lunch at the Miramar or have a warming cuppa or glass of mulled wine and maybe a mince pie or two!!

Refreshments are available at the Hotel Miramar before and/or after the walk. The walk will last approximately 90 minutes.

Be prepared: this is a mainly flat walk on pavements but I recommend wearing comfortable shoes and dressing appropriately for the weather – during this hot weather I suggest you bring a bottle of water too. Walkers can park in the carpark at the rear of the hotel, just let reception know you are there … there are also bus stops nearby. You can enjoy refreshments at Hotel Miramar before or after the walk. The walk lasts approximately 75 minutes.
